Example of Play

Morning, in the burrow-village of Tumbledown. Auntie Maggs, across the gully, needs a parcel of medicine before the storm arrives, and Elder Bramble has opinions about who should carry it.

Narrator: The Elder holds the parcel to her chest. "The gully crossing is CURSED. A shadow with claws, they say. I'll not be sending children." Melia: I put a paw on hers, very gently. "Auntie Maggs needs it, and we will be careful. I'll bring you back a song about it." Narrator: Sweet, but she's a rock. Winning her over is a test: Heart. Melia: Two dice... rolls ...a 5. Narrator: Okay: you get what you want, at a price. She hands the parcel over after an hour. Warnings. Prophecies. A list of everyone the gully has ever eaten. Your ears are ringing by the end of it: mark 1 SP. Melia: marking it Cheap at the price. Banjo: While that's happening, I'm at the... oh. I never fixed my shield after the hailstorm, did I. Narrator: You did not, and the storm won't wait for the smith. Dented shield it is. Pip: I pocket my glass pebble for luck, and we're off!
